In 1996, 2x4's first file server was a repurposed Macintosh Performa 6110 and a pile of external hard drives. Thirty years later, it's 196 terabytes of managed, redundant storage, a JumpCloud-based identity and security platform, and a Cisco and Juniper Mist network — documented from the ground up rather than held together from memory. This is the story of how a design studio and a technology partner moved through three eras of trust: reacting, planning, and managing.
