Be Kind, Rewind: Thirty Years of Macktez
Macktez marked thirty years with a 90s-themed office party: a hand-drawn timeline, vintage tech on display, and a photo booth built from our own history.

On September 10, we opened the doors of our East Village office to celebrate thirty years of Macktez. Friends, clients, and former colleagues joined the current Team for a night built around a theme borrowed straight from the video store counter: “Be Kind, Rewind.”
Thirty years of hardware, back on the table
The office turned into something between a museum and a costume closet. A yellow café table held a hands-on collection of the tools we used to carry: PDAs, flip phones, a BlackBerry, and a yellow Kodak disposable camera that guests were encouraged to actually use.
Nearby, a vintage Apple CRT Studio Display sat in front of two of the night’s best gags: full-size movie posters recasting Noah Landow and Michael Horst in Face/Off, Executive Decision, and a run of other 90s thrillers.
A timeline three decades long
The centerpiece of the night ran the length of one wall: a timeline stretching from 1996 to 2026, marked year by year with photos of Team Members, milestones from client relationships, and the world events that happened alongside them. Guests were handed markers and invited to add their own memories directly to the wall.
Dressed for the decade
The dress code did its job. Flip phones and BlackBerrys got worked into more than one outfit, and the cocktail menu leaned hard into the era, poured into coupe glasses. A working Nintendo 64 ran in one corner for anyone who wanted to see how a controller from 1996 actually feels in the hand.
Smile for the Game Boy
The back room held a photo booth built entirely out of our own history: guests posed inside oversized frames shaped like a Game Boy, a Tamagotchi, and an MS Paint window.
Thirty years ago, Macktez started as a handful of people solving technology problems for people they knew. On September 10, a room full of the people we’ve solved them for, and with, helped us celebrate it. Co-founders Noah Landow and Michael Horst closed out the night with a toast. Thank you to everyone who came out, dressed up, and added a memory to the wall.
