I wonder if wool pillows really are "cooler in the summer."

These gloves have special fingertips that allow you to use touch screen devices while wearing gloves. Not so helpful in 97 degree heat, but while out in cold, snowy weather that would be very nice.

The TuneBuckle is right on that edge between cool/clever and dorky/hip. If I had an iPod nano I think I might be tempted to get one. Wonder how clunky it looks on.

After feeling the heat and being reminded this weekend (well, only Sun; Sat was gorgeous) of how the summer and summer heat affects me (not in a good way), I decided to see how contacts help the equation. So I'm wearing them today and we'll see how/if they improve my mood. Or, more accurately, how not having sweaty glasses sliding down my nose affects my mood.

Short little snippet of an article at Slate proposing alternate contributing reasons (besides much disucssed corn syrup, super-sizing, car-culture, etc) for America's obessiety problem -- Such as inadequate sleep (interesting), heating and air-conditioning (I'm a bit dubious), smoking cessation (very interesting), and medications (Seems almost obvious; I wonder how much of a factor this actually is? This article in the NYT on Sunday implies it could be a big one)

A little mini ditty from Colin at Smyles & Fish. Curious echos of some recent conversations about death.

I am so absurdly behind in life things that I am finally posting photos from mid-June: Meredith's Birthday Talents Show 2006.

OpenDNS sounds like a very interesting service. Essentially, they provide out-sourced domain name servers, but ones with a series of clever and thoughful features added. I won't go into the specifics here (Wired has an article on the company with some specifics) but I am testing them out. Unintended bits are to be expected -- For instance, I just entered "slashdot" instead of "slashdot.org" and got an OpenDNS search results page instead of simply getting redirected to slashdot.org; though I suspect this is more about how Safari/local web browser works (presumably by relying on unkown server response from DNS to add the .com or .org versions of an address) than an intentional change on OpenDNS part. Would be a good addition, though.

Another memory supplement: Systema, because I seem to have some kind of mental block about it in which I get stuck on the word sklerma whenever I try to say Systema. Hm.

Mr. Peepers, becuase I am going to forget his name again and this way I can search here for the red pants wearing monkey boy on SNL skit, played by Chris Kattan (tho I doubt I'll remember that part).

Really fascinating article at Slate about a month and a half on Paxil. Very short and an easy read.
