Am I weird to read this article and be most surprised that the total of all unique data at Flickr is under 1TB? That's it?

When it rains, it pours. Another map of the NYC Subway stops and neighborhoods.

Finally, a map of NYC streets with subway stations marked on it. The site is a bit sluggish, but so good to have. I was very disappointed that Google Local didn't have this info. I get sentimental pangs about Vindigo whenever I want to find the closest subway stops from a given location.

It's just a rumor, but I'd watch Caprica (a Battlestar Galactica prequel series; looking forward to the third Season, by the way). Must catch up on Lost first. . .

Apple's Technical Note TN1103: Uniquely Identifying a Macintosh Computer offers an interesting insight into a tricky part of copy protection/DRM/owner identification in that most identfying characteristics of a computer can change under certain circumstances.

This list (from Emerson, via Kottke) of 102 movies that you should see echos a repeating conversation I've been having with with S that starts with [insert Name_of_Film here] and ends with me staring blankly back and saying "I haven't seen that. . ." So I was actually surprised how many of these I've seen (More than 40). Aguirre, the Wrath of God and Repulsion being two recently discussed ones I have not. A decade ago I saw Double Indemnity at an actual, tiny theater on Astor Place (now for stage, not film) and became fascinated by strike anywhere matches; used those for years instead of a lighter. Loved that film. (more...)

Perfect for my Ma: Scripture Solitaire: "Learn and meditate upon Bible verses while enjoying a game of cards." Kidding.

The images are unretouched or corrected, but M has a few shots of the latest metalwork prototypes up in her Flickr photostream, if anyone's curious.

A scathing article about Windows Vista called "Where Vista Fails". Odd to see this kind of vitriol directed at Gates and Microsoft. End of an era. (more...)

Posted some new Portraits this weekend. Some others too, like Bunny Rabbit (with nose and lip piercing) in the Shop Rite and Modern art in the Ames.

Via Ev: The original Star Trek theme song had some damn weird love/sex lyrics. For instance: "Strange love a star woman teaches."

The Nokia E61 looks like an interesting Blackberry/Treo alternative. It's by Nokia (Good: Maybe even means it has a good UI? Too much to ask?) and it looks like it would be on Cingular (Supports 850 and EDGE). The bad is that it was supposed to be released in First Quarter 2006. Didn't that end a week ago? | comment 0

This directory of OnDemand Book Printers and Ebook Companies looks to be very compehensive. Talking to Keiji about putting his words into a book form and onto real wooden paper. If comb-binding were ok, PrintFuis cheap and soothingly simple. But Comb-binding is not what I'm looking for. Perfect bound is. And for that, LuLu looks fantastic.
