The Japanese can be a little odd sometimes.

Should add a link to my Flickr page the sidebar. Might as well add one for Friendster too. [Update: Added]

(From Matt) I have a thing for remixes, covers, mashups. It all started way back in the Gin and Juice days and today I can add a cover of It Smells like Teen Spirit played by the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain. Huh. It starts off a bit iffy but gets better and better. | comment 0

This electrical outlet from Leviton is an odd one. It represents an interesting way to address (I presume) an aesthetic and somewhat practical issue that has arisen from the profusion of right angle plugs on appliances and extension cords (Which I don't recall seeing so often 10 years ago but which I see all the time now). The issue being that not all outlets have the grounding pins in the same position: Some have them on the top, others on the bottom, and (occasionally) a few on the side -- Does anyone know if there is a "proper" way to orient them, by the way? -- and a right angle plug, by definition, needs to choose one way to be. This "three-way" design (for lack of a better name) would ensure that most of the time whichever way the plug faced you could still angle the cord down. Or maybe they were solvinga different problem. | comment 0

Res has a story on this film in the last issue. It's an interesting use of animation for a serious, adult film. I watched the trailer first with the sound off (I often watch TV with the sound off) and then again with the sound on. Definitely much more compelling with the sound on. See for yourself: Trailer for A Scanner Darkly.

Ginger Crème Brulee ice cream? And it's local. I'm getting some of that.

If you enjoy Katamari Damacy, then you'll like this wacky web version. It's flat, but still earily close to the PS2 game.

A set of images from the Ciaccia Family Sausage day this weekend. Some hilights: An image of the fire, Mr. Ciaccia is a taylor, and Knives, having served their purpose. Aso, note the link to James' photos.

In addition to the official New Digs page, Michael has a few photos of the new office posted.

The idea is both simple (Kind of like a mini version of an audio patch panel), save the jack from wear and damage by sticking an extension cord into it and you have a Sacrificial Cable.
