Nothing much to the article. The headline says it all: iPod Replaced With Meat. | comment 0

I'm not surprised, but still impressed that Battlestar Galactica was chosen as the best show of 2005 by Time. It's a damn fine show. Season premier is January 6th. Viewing party at my place. | comment 0

I am sorry, but how is Cheney's iPod newsworthy? I could see on MSNBC, but ABC News? Christ. | comment 0

Three interesting purely web-based text editor applications: Jotspot, essentially a Wiki with better formatting control and series of clever mini applications and scripts built in; gOffice, a simple letter editor that outputs to PDF (not sure how useful this one would be); Writely, a full features editor with great version control; and, speaking of vrsion control, Writeboard, a very simple one focused on versioning/collaboration. All are very interesting and some have great UIs. Not sure I would be comfortable outsourcing key IP assets to any of these for my business, but here sure are some very sophisticated Web 2.0 (Or are we up to 3.0?) tools coming onto the field. | comment 0

This article by my father on differences in British and American railroads is especially interesting in light of the deisgn decisions made for the Acela, namely investing in very new technology for the trains to allow them to operate at higher speeds on the existing, low quality track. | comment 0

That is one seriously flexible contortionist/dancer. Fascinating, a little grotesque, sometimes marvellous. You can turn the sound off, though. That's add anything for me. | comment 0

A great article over at Ars about why, technologically and culturally, the kind of computer-automated mass surveillance necessary for little Bush's illegal NSA wiretaps is a bad idea. Great final paragraph highlighting the problem with wide nets for finding bad people. | comment 0

I was wondering how long this strike would last and noticed a comment on Metroblogging asking the same question: "How long do you guys think this will last? If we look at history: 1966 Strike 1/1-1/13 (13 Days), 1980 Strike 4/1-4/11 (11 Days)" That would suck. | comment 0

Enormous sun. Went on a hike on Sunday. As we hit the last third, a gorssly oversized sun hung over the frozen landscape illuminating the ice covered surroundings in tinsel shards of glass. | comment 0

I am not vegan (or vegetarian), but I most certainlyy respect the movement. Donald Watson, founder of veganism, died a few weeks ago. | comment 0

This pair were too good not to put together. First, we have the 30 Second Bunnies Theatre Library "in which a troupe of bunnies parodies a collection of movies by re-enacting them in 30 seconds, more or less." Since A Christmas Story is not a film I can stand, I found no love there, but the Alien version is great (Note that the baby alien, cat, and adult alien all have bunny ears tied on. Nice touch). Ok, and second, we have Lapis, "a magical pet adventure...and stealthy primer on female sexual pleasure." Yes, that's right, it's a video game about masturbation. I should mention that Lapis is a cute bunny. | comment 0

Have you ever found yourself saying things like "Bush is the world's worst leader . . . ever" only to catch yourself wonderig if that's true? Well, for a convincing argument that he probably is not, pop on over to fRinge Underground. Though I do have to say the list is not that long. . . | comment 0

Apple and SciFi channel just started selling the Battlestar Galactica series and miniseries through the iTunes Music Store. I would totally have bought these (instead of harassing my friend for copies) if they had been available last year. Sweet. Speaking of: the season premier is January 6th. Save the date. | comment 0

Was just talking about the whole world of media, PR, and advertising a few nights ago and today came across this comprehensive article on "How News is Made." Worth a read. | comment 0

EarThumps look to be nice, inexpensive pair of headphones. | comment 0

A handy page on Boing Boing comparing the two Sony BMG DRM schemes. Man, that is such a mess.

Sometimes I think I don't understand advertising anymore. Like this Gap ad. Uh, wuh? | comment 1
