I seem to have some kind of sleeping disease today: I think it started Fri afternoon and kinda hit Fri night. I was especially tired all day Sat despite taking numerous half hour naps. So I went to bed at a reasonable hour (for me; a bit after 1AM), slept until 9AM, sat up around and decided to go back and doze until noon. Got up, had a snack, puttered and then went back to bed, sleeping and dozing until 5PM. More successfully got up again, went food shipping, and had a bite to eat. Now I have been doing work for a couple of hours and I'm already jonesing for another nap. Hm. | comment 0

I saw a version of the Tom-Cruise-hopping-up-and-down-on-Oprah bit but I missed his Matt Lauer interview on psychiatry. In case you did too, I suggest you take a gander at this recreation with Tom played by a five-eyed green alien and Matt played by a three-eyed brown one. I think he does makes a few good points and I would be curious to hear reactions to the idea that one of the factors in a societal rise in depression stems from a decrease in people self-medicating themselves with alcohol. Not sure where I heard that, but it's an interesting notion. | comment 0

The other Noah's commentary on the holidays. They really do last nearly a quarter of the year. I like them, so I take pleasure in that, but that is a long front edge. | comment 0

I like Good & Plenty. I think it's my favorite candy. | comment 2

How far has the company that brought us the Walkman fallen? Now I take this as a symptom of fatal flaw of giant multinationals and, even more so, highly vertical media companies, but that issue aside, I suggest you review the list of shocking news over the last two weeks concerning Sony's blatantly illegal and unquestionably unethical copy prevention scheme. Really quite the stunning debacle. Let the lawsuits begin. Summary: Do not buy Sony BMG CDs for a bit. If you did check to see if you got compromised and if you did, contact the EFF and join the suit. Oh, and this issue can affect Mac OS X too (Though it's not invisible like Windows; you are prompted to enter your admin password to install the software). | comment 0

Let's start with the fact that I think I don't get Japanese TV. And if you watch past one minute, then what are they wearing on their heads? Bunny ears? Pig ears? I dunno. Anyway, the most important thing (not to give away the end, or middle, or something) is that Izam doesn't fall. He's cool like that. Er. | comment 0

So a Vatican rep said today that intelligent design is bogus. Huh. | comment 0

My parents were in Brazil this morning and in odd-moment-of-the-day-involving-them number one they drove to the airport with DJ Spooky. Number two is that Corin's Lisa is giving a talk at the same conference as my Fa at Harvard next week. | comment 1

Serena put up a web site for her bracelets and other jewelry named, cutely, Laughing Rabbit Designs -- Check it out! | comment 0

At first Coffee beer sounded interesting but after a closer reading of the method used to create it, it's kinda high tech and overprocessed sounding. Would be curious to taste it though. | comment 1
