Ah, dear Vasmay. . . Born, in a sense, of Ken and Rocky's visit before our last dinner gathering, and revisited by a hard drinking crew afterwards (Is there a whiskey called Bickle? Rickle?), Flickr stirs the memory with a nice, typical shot. Evite has a little blurb to you, begging for some party planning. And a site called Curbed (discovered by Google) takes us back to your pregnancy. Oh, and the Villager gives some good context: "David McWater, chairperson of Community Board 3, recently got a plug in the Village Voice for his new bar, Vasmay Lounge, which he opened on E. Houston St. and Suffolk St. at the end of last year. Vasmay, which replaces the former Meow Mix lesbian bar of 'Xena'-night fame, is named after a neighborhood bar that was there before. 'Who else but me would have named it that?' said McWater. Another unique feature, Vasmay may be the only place on the Lower East Side where you can get a Natural Light beer, a.k.a. 'Natty Light.'"

If anyone knows anything about the closing of the exceptional NYC ICY Company (at 21 Avenue B, near 2nd Street), I would love any news. New York Magazine (Metro) bleakly and unsubtly says "this shop is closed" on their page. Their number (212-979-9877) is disconnected. The owners, Jonathan and Suzie Leeds, aren't listed in information. I spent some time today Googling the shop and sending emails to (the many) bloggers who described it as their favorite ice cream shop in NY. Maybe one of them will have news. . . I miss 'em so much, I would seriously consider making the owners a cash offer to buy the business.

The iGuy might not be the ideal iPod carrying case, but heck, it has bendable arms. And if I'm reading this photo right, that means it can masturbate.

This sneaker obsession has gone too far. Now a fancy pants restaurant (The Spotted Pig, no less) is doign custom "impossible to get" sneakers. They're just orange DC's, for goodness sake. Truly a testament to fabricated scarcity.

It crowded enough tha I'm not so sure I'm up for it, but nonetheless seeing Touch of Evil in the Bryant Park Summer Film Festival would make for a fine evening.

This Mad Physics site looks built for Ev. Seems to have two taglines, "Fun Experiments and More" as well as "Where knowledge becomes dangerous." Also worth note that the authors are high school students.

I decided five minutes ago that I'm going to start using capital letters on this page now. And mostly proper punctuation. I think I'm going to still keep it casual and continue to use contractions, though. Might drop key words from sentences for effect too.

the Test-Um, Inc. Validator looks like just what i needed. a device that can run cat 5 and cat 5e tests on network cabling an dactually produce certifcation reports for under $1000. the classic pentascan units are all in the $4-7k range. let's see if it works as advertised. the Brady ID PAL looks like a good, solid labelling companion for it too.
