this is relevant on at least two levels: make your own peeps. like from a kit: "WHAM-O's Marshmallow Peeps Marshmallow Maker comes complete with one marshmallow extruder, three marshmallow molds with six shapes, a Peeps stirring stick, measuring cup, two sets of marshmallow mixes and 2 packets of sanding sugar, making anytime a perfect time for some marshmallow Peeps fun." i count six uses of the word "marshmallow" in that sentence, btw. that's 14%.

despite finding it "to be a great service," this review of the new napster from the boys over at engadget, points the achilles heel with the non-itunes/ipod services out there. they (to flip the apple tag line) don't just work; it's not easy getting diff devices from diff manufacturers all to work together proplerly: "Yes, it was really that kludgy. But a full day and two players later, we were finally up and running with Napster To Go." i know don't have the patience for that. . .

another reason to look longing at our neighbors to the north: they refused to institute a canadian version of the (grossly misused) dcma.

weird timing. i finshed reading ender's game the day before yesterday and today /. reports that a movie is very much in the works. not a very promising list of names on the project, alas, but what a coincidence. . .

sounds like google print is up and running. try it out by adding the word "book" to the beginning of your querry. for example, enter "book gulliver's travels" into google and your first result (up top) is the actual text of the book.

for all of those who think that superglue adheres all things to all things, this "this to that" site is just what you've been looking for: a guide to what adhesive to use to get one thing to stick to another. and they even differentiate strongest versus fastest, least toxic, etc.

(from /.) hey, all you (us) aol instant message users. pls do take note of their new terms of service. of special interest is the "Content You Post" section. a little snippet: "'By posting Content on an AIM Product, you grant AOL, its parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, assigns, agents and licensees the irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide right to reproduce, display, perform, distribute, adapt and promote this Content in any medium. You waive any right to privacy. You waive any right to inspect or approve uses of the Content or to be compensated for any such uses." . . . that's right, from here on any image, word, drawing, photo you post to AIM is theirs to do whatever they want with. . . really. not joking. . . . sounds like my firm probably ought to go ahead with that ichat encryption software we've been eyeing.

if i were the european union or china, microsoft's new policy of offering patches to the u.s. government up to a month befre releasing them publicly would be the final nail in their coffin.

while this endicia looks like a slick, elegant product, i can't seem to get my head around why people would spend $15/mo to be able to buy postage (at normal prices)? are that many small businesses sending so many non-standard (first class, sub-one ounce, $0.37) envelopes that it's worth it?

one of my ma's earliest jobs was giftwrapping. she's very, very good at it. nice and crisp corners seem to be key. sounds like this is something for she and mv to chat about next time they cross paths.

rach's pointer to the cheese diaries led me to american cheese society. not sure membership makes sense for me, but that did lead me to the cheese primer. which is now on my amazon wish list. oh, and according to this post artisanal offers three months internships in cheese. hm. now that is tempting. . .
