two sites on kottke's "fave sites" list caught my eye: one slightly wacky, emotional one titled food without fear and one mainstream, very nicely written one titled the way we eat now. nothing groundbreaking or shocking in here, but nevertheless i think it's valuable to keep this issues in the forefront of one's mind.

that hard drive image is going to look familiar to anyone who uses a macintosh, even though cooler master doesn't do anything macintosh-related.

from corin, the hardy orange plant know as clivia miniata is apparently indestructible. and green/orange. perhaps a kinder alternative to little orange trees?

(from kottke) how to make tiny oranges from clay. really, really tiny, surprising accurate, oranges. keeps getting better as you keep scrolling.

how many seconds have you been alive? how many ounces of water can you boil with the candles on your next cake?

i dunno. it seemed like everyone thought reagan's star wars system was proof he was going senile, then boom, little bush comes back with the same plan and where are all the voices of reason? the damn things seem to consistently fail every damn test that isn't ridiculously rigged (yup, last week's test failed too). who thinks the things will ever work? not me, in case you were wondering.

if we could keep from drinking the stuff, we might need a system for tracking our collection. but since we pretty much drink it all that would be kind of pointless.

finally updated the sidebar of links on the left. say hello to daniel (one and the same), the other noah, and arguably my oldest coworker matthew. and goodbye to phil (sorry dude, the last update was a marsedit test, yo).

not sure if the snuggling ifbot would really prevent senility but it sure is cute.
