the boys over at sat (who i would have trackbacked too, but they have it off; what's up with that, tmonkey?) are spreading the word about this hektor spray-painting contraption. but as cool/crazy as it is (and has been for a few months now), let's not forget the illustrious graffiti writer or it's van-sized descendant street writer from the kids over at institute for applied autonomy (IAA). in their own words: "Graffiti Writer is a tele-operated robot which employs a custom built array of spray cans to write linear text messages on the ground at a rate of 10 miles per hour. These messages are similar in form to dot matrix printer output, and are not intended to imitate human graffiti. Rather the Writer's aesthetics are purely mechanical, prompting the viewer to wonder 'what kind of machine wrote this?'" . . . and while we're talking crazy printer devices, how about the print dreams random movement printing technology device? not that there seem to actually be any out there for sale, but same could be said for dear hektor.
