On Friday Febuary 3rd 2006 the Kama Sutra aka Blackworm aka MyWife Trojan will deliver its payload-- overwriting all important files on infected machines running Microsoft Windows.
Many news stories have misidentified this as a worm, this is not the case. Kama Sutra and its clones require user intervention to access a system. The trojan masquerades as an email with "interesting images" as attachments. Most email programs require the user to purposefully open the files, but on older versions of outlook it is possible for the trojan to install itself without user intervention. For those interested in the details here is a link http://isc.sans.org/diary.php?storyid=1067.
What to do?
Before Friday Febuary 3rd, I would recommend that all windows machines have their anti-virus software updated to the latest virus definitions and run at least one full system scan on all Windows computers.
If you don't own anti-virus software, and you are running Windows XP or later, the following webpages will find and remove the virus windowsonecare.com live.com.
